FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

..

DOES HYPNOSIS REALLY WORK?

Yes, hypnosis really works - and there is nothing magical about it: Trance is a completely natural state that everyone enters several times a day. In a trance the subconscious is open, and that is exactly what the hypnotist works with. In our subconscious mind there are "When-then-rules", such as. "When stressed → then desire for sweets", so the hypnotist searches for the unwanted rules, breaks them and suggests new, good, healthy and helpful rules.

The only thing that is fundamental for hypnosis to work is that you want to be hypnotized - because it's not about giving up control - but about teamwork.

HOW ARE ONLINE SESSIONS WORKING AND ARE THEY AS EFFECTIVE AS "NORMAL" SESSIONS?

Online and telephone sessions are in general part of my services, not only because of the pandemic, but because I have clients who live in other countries.

For preliminary talks and coaching, I like to communicate with my clients via video chat (Skype), as it is helpful to be able to see each other in conversations.

For hypnosis, however, I switch to pure telephony, because then all the attention is on my voice. I also explain to my clients that their subconscious can give me light voice signals such as "mhhh" sounds to show how the inner journey is going emotionally and how the suggestions are being received. This works very well and the results of phone sessions have proven to be just as successful as of "normal" sessions.

..

CAN ONLY WEAK WILLED PEOPLE OR CAN EVERYBODY BE HYPNOTIZED?

You don't have to be weak-willed to be hypnotized! Everyone has the ability to go into trance, because, as mentioned, trance is a completely natural state.

Nevertheless, there are prerequisites for being brought into a trance by another person: The ability to listen well and to be able to focus and to have a mediocre to good imagination - although this does not have to be visual - as an example: If you have ever been ordering food in a restaurant, you had to imagine the dishes on the menu in some way in order to decide what you wanted that day. It didn't matter whether the imagination was visual or sensual. It's the same with hypnosis.

..

IS HYPNOSIS LIKE SLEEP?

No, absolutely not. People only think hypnosis is like sleep because it can look like that from the outside. Trance is a state in which the body and mind are relaxed while the subconscious is simply open and receptive to suggestions. In spite of a relaxed mind, our attention in trance is increased. The conscious mind is aware of everything, the senses are even sharpened. However, the attention is directed inwards.

..

CAN IT HAPPEN THAT I WON'T

WAKE UP FROM HYPNOSIS?

See the answer to the above question: If you don't sleep, you don't have to wake up. Hypnosis is no mind-control, nor is it brainwashing. The hypnotized person could end the trance at any time and get out of it.

 ..

AM I WILLLESS IN HYPNOSIS?

No, not at all. You will never lose control or give up. You will not say anything against your will, nor will you divulge any secrets. Your values and morals also remain unaffected.

Hypnosis only works when you want it to happen. It's team work. We work together to achieve your goals: Your part is the willpower, my task is to explain to your subconscious what you want so that it no longer works against you, but for you.

IT'S DIFFICULT FOR ME TO RELAX, THEREFORE I AM AFRAID THAT CAN'T BE HYPNOTIZED ...

Of course, being able to go into a trance is essential for hypnotic work - and relaxation is the foundation for this. But that doesn't mean that I don't work with people who have difficulties to let go.

If you know that physical and / or mental relaxation is something that is not easy for you, then let me know in the preliminary telephone conversation. With knowing this I can respond better to you and help you to learn that letting go is something beautiful and that it can easily leave.

If there are deeper reasons for the difficulty with relaxation, it makes perfect sense to keep the focus on discussing the reasons and learning to relax first. Because this ability is essential for inner satisfaction! Clients who have learned to let go with me are often surprised by the positive effects it has on so many areas in their life.

HOW CAN HYPNOSIS

STRENGTHEN MY SELF-CONFIDENCE?

First of all, I'll help you to find the deep-seated beliefs that weaken your self-esteem. Then we will discuss how they came about, in which case we will very likely deal with the wounds of your inner child. I will then guide you on how you can heal your inner child. That alone will considerably strengthen your self-love!

Then we find your inner resources - positive feelings and skills - which we strengthen and anchor (NLP). Finally, I will find suitable affirmations for you for even more self-love, courage and self-confidence and suggest these to your subconscious.

..

CAN YOU TEACH ME

SELF-HYPNOSIS?

Yes! It is good if you have experienced hypnosis with my guidance a few times before I teach you self-hypnosis. I really enjoy doing this, especially when I am with clients who have come to me regularly for a while on a larger topic, when coming to the last session. In this way I can provide a tool with which my clients can then continue to work alone and independently after our sessions.

Usually I need 1 - 2 sessions with my clients for this. Self-hypnosis should be practiced for a few minutes every day for 2 weeks, after which you can start working with affirmations after your self-hypnosis, using the receptivity of your subconscious mind. For this I have designed affirmation cards, my clients get affirmations written especially for them for their individual needs.

CAN HYPNOSIS HELP WITH EXAM-ANXIETY OR FEAR OF PUBLIC SPEAKING?

Absolutely yes. This is probably one of the more popular uses of hypnosis. If you suffer from panic attacks, I would send you to a psychotherapist, but when it comes to nervousness and worries about exam situations or stage performance, I can use hypnosis to help you learn to relax, to expose the situation as safe and to provide positive resources which I anchor, so that they get activated in the specific events.

CAN HYPNOSIS HELP

WITH LOVESICKNESS?

Yes and no. It depends on your expectations: I can't just hypnotize pain away from you, and there is a good reason for that: There are parts of your subconscious that know how incredibly important it is to process pain - and they would "protect" you from wanting to supress pain (because that could then manifest in negative ways in your body).

So you can't avoid a grieving process. With hypnosis, however, I can help you very well to get through the process of processing pain better and to grow from the experience, so that you afterwards can walk out strengthened and full of hope and continue with greater self-confidence.

..

CAN YOU MAKE THAT I CANNOT

REMEMBER A SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

OR A CERTAIN PERSON ANYMORE?

No, and it's good that I can't. If we simply forget painful things, we would not be able to grow from them. And it is not possible either: Even if you are highly suggestible, I could maybe make you forget something for a few days or weeks, but the protective part of your subconscious would - which would be absolutely right - ensure that the memories come back again so you can work on it! So you can't forget -

BUT: I can help you to learn to process pain, to let go, to forgive, to free you and to find new inspiration, strength and drive.

..

CAN YOU LEARN LANGUAGES

FASTER THROUGH HYPNOSIS?

I want to be completely honest: No, you can't learn languages faster through hypnosis. But: The most common obstacle to language learning is the fear of doing mistakes, and that blocking you from making progress. If you want to learn quickly, you have to trust yourself and don't be afraid to make mistakes. With hypnosis I can help you lose this fear of  - which will increase your learning speed incredibly.

..

CAN YOU CHANGE SOMETHING ABOUT MY BODY SO THAT I CAN DO SOMETHING THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO DO BEFORE THE HYPNOSIS?

No. Physically, I cannot change anything through hypnosis. For example, I couldn't hypnotize you with stronger muscles - even though the subconscious mind and the body are so strongly connected.

However, many of our physical capacities are linked to our mental attitude and our beliefs. An athlete can certainly improve himself in a competition if he has been encouraged by hypnosis. Many things like flexibility are very mental - and everything that is mental can be improved through hypnosis. Sports hypnosis is well known by olympia-athletes and is often used before competitions.

WHAT I DON'T DO

:

As already mentioned, I am a hypnotist and coach, but not a psychotherapist. I don't do hypnosis with people who have mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, manic depression, psychoses, anorexia etc.

Neither can I use hypnosis to help combat addictions such as alcohol or drug addiction. Hypnotic work with addictions only works as a reinforcement alongside professional psychotherapy - after consultation with the therapist - and especially AFTER clinical withdrawal. If you are interested in reinforcment for staying clean through hypnosis, please speak to your doctor or therapist first before contacting me.
